Most visitors pass through Granadilla de Abona on their way to Tenerife South airport or the beaches of El Médano. Head inland instead and you'll find guachinches serving home-cooked Canarian dishes with local home-made wine.
Papas arrugadas with mojo, conejo en salmorejo and gofio escaldado are standard fare, and there's plenty more on offer. Prices are reasonable and families are welcome.
Some of Tenerife's best guachinches are in Granadilla de Abona, and they're a big part of how the south still eats. If you're staying on the coast, they're well worth the drive uphill.
