San Miguel de Abona reaches from the golf courses on the southern coast up to the old town on the hillside. Its guachinches serve traditional home cooking and local home-made wine.
Order gofio escaldado, papas arrugadas and mojo or conejo en salmorejo, or ask about the local specialities. Prices are very reasonable.
Guachinches are a big part of food culture in the south too, and some of Tenerife's best are in San Miguel de Abona. Simple cooking done well can be a real surprise.
