Los Realejos climbs steeply from the cliffs of the north coast to the slopes below Teide, and guachinches turn up at almost every height. They are simple places: home cooking, home-made wine and a lot of them to choose from.

The kitchens rely on fresh, good-quality produce. Look for conejo en salmorejo, gofio escaldado with watercress and papas arrugadas with mojo picón.

Rooms tend to be rustic and homely. If you're new to Canarian food, Los Realejos is an easy place to begin.
